Global growth
We extended our reach in North America and Asia in 2022, with new offices opening in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA and Tokyo, Japan.
The Cincinnati office, which was refurbished, consists largely of employees who joined the company via the 2021 acquisition of ProjectMatrix; we continue to hire additional Configurans in various roles at that location.
In Japan we have four full-time Configurans as well as several consultants working together to grow our brand, especially in the material handling and commercial interiors industries.
Additionally, we brought on two dynamic leaders—a VP Technology and VP Sales & Marketing—to ensure global alignment and continue on a path to reach our short- and long-term goals.

Configura got its start in this tech-savvy university town in 1990. Today, our headquarters houses over 100 Configurans. Our Linköping office is where our global team’s “fika” tradition started, which is Swedish for “coffee break”.
There are three team members at our small but mighty office in Berlin. Here we focus primarily on sales and building relationships with customers in the material handling industry.
We have over 86 Configurans at our Kuala Lumpur office. When these Configurans aren’t working, you can find them playing badminton, rock climbing or cycling. You’ll also find game nights and ping pong tournaments happening after hours.
We launched our office here in 2017 which has already grown to be the home of 9 Configurans. In this office, you’ll find Configurans who work in Consulting, Support & Training, Sales & Marketing, and Finance.
Configura has established an office in Tokyo, Japan in 2021 to expand our footprint in Asia outside of Malaysia and China. This office focuses on sales, Implementation capacity, and building relationships with customers in Japan.
Located in downtown Grand Rapids – also known as “Furniture City” – you’ll find over 75 Configurans. You may find our team participating in social activities like video game club, book club and music club to name a few.

Return to the office: A hybrid approach
To support Configurans where they are, as well as their work preferences and styles, we went through a three-part return to office approach in 2022, establishing a hybrid option for all Configurans.
As the world continues to adapt to new ways of working coming out of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Configura is committed to ensuring employees have ample opportunity for focused work, as well as team collaboration. For that reason, Configurans are encouraged to work in the office 50 percent of the time as a means to connect with colleagues and engage in face-to-face conversations and meetings.
With our strong company culture and people-focused workplaces with ample perks—like coffee, snacks, game time, weekly Fika and more—many Configurans are opting to work in the office, rather than from home.
Culture and communication
The leadership program launched in 2021 continued this year. In the spring, Configura’s leadership team including executives, EMTs and product managers participated in leadership training. In the fall, they also participated in several communications best practices workshops.
For the first time in two years, Configurans around the world joined together by country to participate in in-person kickoff retreats. Organized by the People team, Configurans enjoyed dedicated time to connect, collaborate, learn and play.

We continue to use and grow our HRM system, Sympa, to better streamline processes in the employee lifecycle. The core behaviors are being worked into HR processes including employee development dialogues, as well as salary review discussions and onboarding materials.
Finally, we launched Winningtemp globally, after an initial trial run in North America. Winningtemp is an AI-based platform that measures team and organization engagement, well-being and development in real-time.
To better understand the working life of every Configuran, Winningtemp asks questions related to leadership, job satisfaction, work environment and more via a short survey on a weekly basis. Responses are anonymous and the scores populate as a temperature gauge to assess and encourage adjustments in behavior. All information collected is used by leadership and group managers to understand the Configuran experience and bring areas for improvement to light.
