LETTER FROM THE CEO
With 2022 behind us, we can agree the way work gets done has gone through a transformation that is here to stay. With the geopolitical landscape in constant motion and markets shifting more than ever, a company’s agility and stamina are very clearly the keys to its survival. The desire for normalcy has been replaced with tools and processes for conquering constant change.
Configura has experienced both opportunities and challenges this year. To establish comfort within a climate of constant change, we committed significant effort to the support of our employees, user community and customers, as well as our products and processes.
A focus on people
At the start of the year and with the worst of the pandemic behind us, we recognized a need to care for our team as they adjusted to a new working environment. We have worked hard to increase retention and recruit new talent—adding 39 new Configurans in 2022. To further grow our team and expand our reach, we opened two new office locations—one in Tokyo, Japan and the other in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
The return of in-person events and meetings
Coming out of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Configura returned to in-person events and trade shows. We connected with current and future customers at NeoCon, MODEX, LogiMAT and Logis-tech. Participation in these trade shows energized our sales teams and inspired new collaborations and connections.
Our customer community continues to grow. We hosted our first in-person Momentum meeting in Europe in May. Many manufacturing customers were in attendance to discuss the future of our partnerships and their respective industries.
After two virtual conferences, we held the 15th annual CET Experience in a hybrid format—with 350 people attending the in-person event in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, and 700 virtual attendees. It was truly a fantastic event with great speakers from our user community, inspiring keynotes and engaging networking opportunities.
Expansion of our product offerings
Since the acquisition of ProjectMatrix in 2021, we have fully integrated the people and product offerings into Configura. We experienced strong growth in the products we acquired, including the Commercial Interiors Library (CI Library) and Spec. This success inspired us to create and launch more user-driven solutions and Extensions to enhance the user experience.
Although challenging, the year was exciting for our Product team as we were motivated by our user community to solve performance issues, specifically within CET Commercial Interiors. In addition to that work, we launched several solutions to meet the needs of our growing ecosystem, including the first of our Essentials solutions—Pallet Racking—as well as the Flooring Extension and Twinmotion Extension.
Throughout the year, many long-term customers—those who previously employed Configura Classic—opted to migrate to one of three industry-based CET solutions. To close out the year, 70 percent of all Configura Classic users were on target to migrate to CET by 2025. This is evidence that Configura continues to exceed expectations and create strong, lasting value for our customers.
Looking to the future
Our aim for the year was to continue to grow and expand the Configura ecosystem. We experienced double digit growth in new and renewing licenses and continued to set our sights on providing an excellent customer and user experience. Our community is committed to us and we are committed right back; we are better together!
As the year progressed the way forward became clear. We revised and focused our market strategy to better support our community around the world and strengthened our management team with the addition of a new VP Sales & Marketing and VP Technology.
Together we can reflect on a turbulent but successful year with lessons learned and look forward to future success in 2023 and beyond.
