A creative at heart, Olivia Grant found her way into the commercial interiors industry during college when she took her first CET class. The class sparked her passion for designing commercial spaces and today, Olivia is an architectural products designer at Interior Environments, an Allsteel dealership located in Novi, Michigan.
“I love design because you can be creative while making beautiful spaces that are functional,” Olivia said. “One of the best feelings is seeing a space you designed come to life and observing how people feel when they’re in that space.”
Olivia became part of the CET community while attending Eastern Michigan University. She began her education as an art history major and found a passion for gallery design, which led Olivia to switching her major to interior design. Ever since, Olivia has been fully immersed in using CET to design spaces within the commercial interiors industry.
While at Eastern Michigan University, Olivia landed first place in the 2020 CET Awards for her student rendering submission. During her senior year, she also landed an internship at Interior Environments and was offered a full-time position upon graduation.
“CET has been my tried-and-true software for the past three years,” Olivia said. “I fell in love with CET in the classroom because it just clicked with me and I decided design was the path I wanted to follow. It’s been cool continuing to use CET in my career after getting hired.”

In her role at Interior Environments, Olivia designs and develops wall solutions using Allsteel products. Olivia uses Allsteel’s Extension to design architectural solutions that help clients break away from traditional drywall construction and use Allsteel’s demountable wall solutions instead. Allsteel’s wall solutions offer clients the flexibility to redesign their space and endless possibilities in aesthetic choices.
“CET has made me so much more productive. The software is life-changing and time-saving because I get everything I need in one tool,” Olivia said. “I have used many other software solutions where I have to jump back and forth between programs to design in 2D and 3D. With CET, it’s user friendly, intuitive and has definitely cut my design time in half.”
There are many things Olivia loves about CET including making drawings in 2D and 3D views and rendering spaces within the software. Her favorite CET tip is using Alternatives in CET files. Olivia says Alternatives make it easy to apply changes in a file while keeping the original version of the drawing.
“I see myself being in the commercial interiors industry and CET is the program where I can grow my skills and expand my knowledge,” Olivia said. “There are endless possibilities for where CET can take me and push me as a designer, and that excites me about my career.”
When Olivia isn’t designing office spaces, you’ll find her immersed in creative hobbies including visiting art museums, drawing and designing commissioned tattoos.
