Ashley Shine is a Designer at Creative Office Pavilion, a Herman Miller Certified Dealer, in Boston. Using CET Commercial Interiors saves Ashley a lot of time when working on big projects.
Ashley grew up in Wisconsin and later went to Missouri State University. After graduation she moved to Boston for a change of pace. Initially starting her career off at another dealership, Ashley started at Creative Office Pavilion in 2018 and has been working there ever since.
For Ashley it is the little things that matter most in design. “I love that the simple things can have such a huge impact on people,” she said. “Minor details can greatly affect the person working in a space. And for me it is the thing that I think about the most, even when I am long done with a project.” Such small things can be adding a height adjustable table over a fixed one or picking a certain fabric color over another.
Ashley has been using CET for around four years and has been improving her skills ever since. In 2021 Ashley won the first place in the annual CET Awards for best video. Her office model with bold colors, big windows and clean workspaces is what made her stand out. Ashley uses CET every single day. “It depends on the day, but I use CET for all my projects, I use it during development to create block plans, typical drawings, and final installation drawings as well renders and videos for my presentations,” Ashley said.
Being able to use Live Design in CET has made a huge impact on the Creative Office Pavilion and their clients. Requested changes can now be made in a meeting right in front of the client, cutting down on back-and-forth email or phone communication. “Live Design in CET saves everyone a lot of time, something that we all do not have enough of,” said Ashley. Especially during a time where many people work from home, Live Design has a big impact in making collaboration fast and effortless.

Ashley really appreciates how efficient the design software is. “When we use CET, we always save time,” she said. “We used to work with three different programs for different steps of the design process and now we can do it all in one and CET even does a lot of the work for you.” Today, CET is the only software used at the dealership and the designers are so skilled in it, they usually do peer training, on top of the Configura offered training and webinars, when onboarding new colleagues.
Besides being able to create amazing renderings, Ashley's favorite thing about CET is the feature request button. “I love that we as the users, who are using CET every single day, can submit requests for things that would make our lives easier. It's nice to feel like we can give input and I feel like you usually see those requests come into fruition and then you know someone's actually listening and trying to make these requests happen,” Ashley said.
Ashley sees CET taking the dealership even further in the future. “CET has already taken us to an awesome place, but it just keeps going. We're excited to see that more and more extensions have been added to the Marketplace. I feel like more people are adding products to the platform which is so exciting,” she said.
Being part of the CET Community is something that Ashley enjoys as well. In 2019 she attended the CET Experience in Florida and talked to developers and attended sessions. “It was an awesome experience, because I met all these people in one place that know what the program is, have used it and like it as well! It was fun to be able to nerd out about the program with other users,” Ashley said.
As a creative person, Ashley loves to give her drawings and renderings a personal touch. She likes to create art and collages from magazines, then scan them and add them as artwork in CET. “I like to add a little bit of myself into a drawing, maybe you would not even notice but I know it is there and that makes me happy,” she said. Ashley already hinted that she will be participating in the 2022 CET Awards and her rendering will include one of her hand-made collages, so we are already looking forward to seeing that!
